Master Chess Summer Camp 2024 Introduction
Dear parents and guardians, welcome to our 2024 Master Chess Camp! We will do everything we can to make your child’s summer more engaging, instructive, and interactive in our in-person camps! We’re excited to be back in-person for the whole summer, so kids can fully socialize and play with each other. Our teachers for the camp this summer will include Mr. Mike, Mr. Daniel, Mr. Ekrem, Mr.Mark and Mr. Foo among others. For this year, we are planning to provide our usual entertaining and instructive chess lessons along with double chess, complemented with money management, public speaking, arts, and debate. The Specific schedule will be based on the ages of the campers and skills of their teacher, so each camper will get to try chess and non-chess content.
For our in-person camp, we will take all the necessary safety measures to minimize risk of Covid transmission, including cleaning surfaces, chess boards, and proper ventilation. In-person camp will also feature projects like the ones we had in prior years; bridge-building, arts workshops, and of course double chess tournaments 🙂 We will have two locations, and both will provide outdoor playtime. Our North campus has a fantastic soccer field which will be put to good use, along with the table tennis tables inside. Looking forward to an awesome summer!
Chess Component
-Our teachers will work on the fundamental skills of chess such as calculation and evaluation of variations, especially with the more experienced students. They will use a collection of historical and recent games to show how this works out in practice, along with exercises to practice those skills. Tactical puzzles will be used to warm up our campers’ brains. Considering the Candidates tournament that will take place in Toronto this April, we will also be looking at these games.
-Weekly tournaments will keep campers in good chess shape, and give our teachers games to analyze with the campers.
-For the younger campers, we will play a collection of mini-games such as mazes and pawn games, which train essential chess skills.
-We will try to organize special events such as simuls, guest lecturers, trivia contests, as well as chess variant tournaments, to add novelty to the game.

Our goal is to ensure growth and learning through play and stories, for which we promise to be energetic and entertaining. We can’t wait to work with your children, and see them grow into mature critical thinkers, debaters, problem-solvers, prudent money-managers and terrific chess players!
